No one ever said following the Lord was an easy thing. I would say in the early years of becoming a Christian my walk was pretty easy. Over the last 10 years my walk has been the hardest in all the years I have been a believer. I have been in so many battles but thankfully God got me through it and many times carried me through it. If there was one thing I have learned in ALL the good and hard times of my walk I have come to learn that following what God wants for my life is the best thing ever. It isn’t easy but it always is best. In doing so it builds so much character. I am learning to trust God everyday and have faith that He has what is best for me.
With that being said. . . Over the last year God has been tugging on my heart to take a step back from my photography business. I clearly put it in the back of mind and ignored God thinking there is no way God would be asking me to stop doing something I clearly love so much. Well over the last few weeks God has been giving me another tug reminding me what He wants from me. Only this time I have really listened. I have prayed about what it is exactly that God is wanting from me. The Lord has made it very clear that it is time for me to slow down and take a break from my photography business as a full time photographer and spend more time with my family and prepare myself for what it is He has planned for me over the next year. He even used a complete stranger on our cruise to confirm this is what I am supposed to do right now.
So the plan is to finish out my commitments through the rest of the year as a full time photographer. So what does that mean for my clients. Well I am not completely going away I am just taking a drastic step back. I am no longer going to be pushing hard for business. I will still take jobs as they come to me but it will be very limited. If you have sessions booked after the first of the year no need to worry I will honor those commitments.
My job as a photographer isn’t just showing up taking your pictures and walla your pictures are magically ready. It entails so much more. Making phone calls, scheduling appointments, taking the pictures, editing the pictures, advertising and so much more.
This decision is bittersweet for me. I love being a photographer. I love meeting new people, I love capturing these very special moments for people, I just love what I do. But I love the Lord more and following what He has planned for my life is what is best for me and my family. I truly hope you understand where I am at and help support me in this next adventure God takes me on.
Be Blessed,
Amanda
